A Cowboy’s Thanksgiving Prayer
By Steve Lucas
Dear Lord, I’m mighty thankful for all the things you give.
I’m thankful for stars above and the cowboy’s life I live.
I’m thankful for this free land it’s mountains and its dales.
I’m thankful for its little towns and lonely, dusty trails.
I’m thankful that I’ve had the chance to experience first hand
The grandeur of your creation and your mark upon the land.
Whether heading up to Spring pastures or coming down in the Fall
I see the beauty you created and I’m thankful for it all.
I’m thankful for the summer rains and for the winter snow.
I’m thankful for the friends I meet everywhere I go.
I’m thankful for the Summer sun and the green, fresh grass of Spring,
I’m thankful for the hawks that soar and the meadowlarks that sing.
So Lord, I’m taking this special time on Thanksgiving Day.
To tell you how thankful I am and to take some time to say,
That though cowboys don’t make church regular, I think you really know,
That we’re riding mighty close to you and thankful where ever we go.
