Via Blackfive: The Value of Service Commentary by Lt. Col. Mark Murphy 354th Maintenance Group deputy commander EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska — I learned a big lesson on service Aug. 4, 2008, when Eielson had the rare honor of hosting President Bush on a refueling stop as he traveled to Asia . It was […]
What are your impressions of the DNCC so far?
What are your impressions of the Democratic National Committee Convention so far? Mine can be summed up in one word… YAWN. It’s 2004 all over again… There are no ideas, no positive agenda and no vision for the future. So far their entire agenda can be summed up as we’re miserable, Bush sucks and John […]
LPGA To Require English For International Players…
A lot has already been written about this so I’ll keep my remarks short… I agree wholeheartedly with the LPGA’s decision. English is the dominate language in this country and if you want to succeed in business you have to be able to speak the language. Make no mistake about it professional golf is a […]
Michael Totten: The Truth About Russia in Georgia
I linked to this previously but Michael Totten’s “The Truth About Russia in Georgia” is the most comprehensive report I’ve seen on the conflict – it’s a must read for anyone who wants to know what really happened – and it deserves much greater prominence than I gave it earlier. The Truth About Russia in […]
Russian Aggression
If you haven’t read the Op-Ed by by Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman in today’s Wall Street Journal you should. I don’t agree with Graham or Lieberman often but they’re spot-on here. Russia’s Aggression Is a Challenge to World Order By Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman, Wall Street Journal, August 26, 2008; Page A21 In the wake […]
Let The Games Begin…
The Democratic National Convention kicked of in Denver last night… All I can think to say is so what? In all honesty I’m more interested in what’s happening in Georgia than I am with what’s happening in Denver. If last night was any indication this convention is going to be about the cult of personality […]
Ho-hum Redux
I really should write something… Unfortunately, most of what’s in the news at the moment bores me to tears. I couldn’t care less about the Olympics and I’m sick of the presidential campaign… Cassandra at Villainous Company pretty much sums up my mood here. I am deeply concerned about Russia’s assault on Georgia… I’m not […]
New Photo Gallery
I just finished adding about 30 photos of the “Aluminum Overcast” to the photo gallery. The Aluminum Overcast is one the few World War II era B-17 Flying Fortresses still flying. The photos were taken on August 19, 2008 at Waterbury-Oxford airport in Oxford, CT. For more information about the Aluminum Overcast visit b17.org.
Georgia On My Mind…
I’m deeply troubled by the news out of Georgia, I’m not a expert on the region and I’m not going to try and play one on the internet. What I am doing to do to point you to two excellent posts by C. Blake Powers at Blackfive.net. The first is titled “No, It’s Not Good […]
Godspeed Bernie
Damn, Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor and comedian Bernie Mac passed away today. Bernie Mac was a class act and a great comedian I’m going to miss him… Rest In Peace Bernie.
Back to the 70’s
Everything old is new again or here we go again… Back to the 70’s. Every time I listen to democrats in talk about energy policy I feel I’ve been transported back to the 1970’s. Admittedly some of of their suggestions like making sure your tires are properly inflated or getting regular tuneups are basic commonsense […]
Ted Stevens Indicted
Ted Stevens (R-AK), the longest serving GOP senator, was indicted on corruption charges today. The indictment includes seven counts of failing to disclose more than $250,000 in gifts and services from an oil services company that helped renovate his home. All I can say is: it’s about time! More here, here and here.
Ho-hum…
I’ve been digging around looking for something interesting to blog about over the past few days and so far I’ve come up dry. I could write about Barack Obama’s world tour but that’s been done to death and frankly I can’t think of anything hasn’t already been said. So I thought rather than leaving you […]
The Champagne Is On Me…
Whew! That was fun… I just finished moving jasetaro.com to a new web host. I won’t get into all the details I’ll just say that over the that over the last couple of weeks its become clear that my old host wasn’t going to be able to meet my needs, so I fired them. So […]
